Last time that we went live we were at like okay the last time technically
we're at 720p. The time before that still today we are at 360p. Now we are in
1080p 29.97 FPS because that camera and everything should theoretically be fine.
We were 720p for a little bit too. I said that. Really great job. I was totally listening.
Attentiveness levels. Anyways so what we're trying to do here is a little bit of a year in
review although that is slightly falling apart because a large percentage of the
people that work here are leaving because Christmas. So John is in the
States. Dennis has gone for some reason. Something is happening somewhere and he
has to be there for whatever reason. Berkel isn't here today so we're gonna
have Jake right now. Yes. We're gonna have Tyler on which you guys haven't met
before. Colton and Nick and hopefully Linus and maybe one other person.
Taron and Edzal are probably both too busy unfortunately. We're gonna have
those guys on. We're gonna talk to them about how their year here has gone. What
their favorite things have been, what their least favorite things have been,
how everything has been going. I know you've probably sort of seen mine
already if you're here. You've probably sort of seen a few other ones. We're
gonna redo those because we're uploading this one to YouTube and yeah hopefully

or like disassemble this computer assemble this computer and then so I
never really ended up ever doing anything in the warehouse. Okay. And then
Sylar got hired a few months ago and. Ignore. What? Pay attention. Okay. Now. Now I
like do benchmarking and review stuff sometimes. I'm looking at the thing. I can
see it. It's kind of shiny. A little bit. You see that little twinkle? So benchmark review

that to do with Linus Media Group? I'm gonna say something different than I did
last time. Favorite thing this year. I'm gonna go with the chalk bomb battle on

Okay. The good part of it. I don't even think I got to it. But I'll say this is
the worst thing that happened. Last night. You all probably already heard this name. Last night.

ish. So me and Brandon working on guidance for a script. So when you write
a script you have guidance people. So you tell the editors and the shooters what

shot of this thing. It was good. We got it done last time than we thought we did.
Then we would. So I saved it onto the server and I had to come back to it
because I missed something. Open the file. Every single comment is gone. Every
single piece of guidance is gone. Except like the very first one I made like a
week ago. I was just like okay I'm just gonna like leave now. This is so bad. I did find a thing
online cuz apparently word docs are like just like a zip file. So you just like
extract it and then all the stuff is inside. So there's like a comments dot
XML or whatever. I found the error and like deleted it and I lost some of the
comments but most of them were covered. So it was very bad turned good. Cool. What about you?
What about me? Yeah. I'm interviewing other people. Oh what I'm reviewing you. Flip
the table here. I've already done mine but I'll go through it again. My
favorite part of this year hands down was the most recent Scrapyard Wars with
can they hear that? They can probably hear that. Anyways my favorite thing this
year was the yeah brand new Scrapyard Wars with BS mods Bob and Rod. Rod was on
my team. Had tons of fun. Built probably one of my favorite mods ever which is
right there. Almost poked him in the head but didn't quite. Right there we still
kept it because it's so awesome. It's like the Mad Max inspired build that
literally shot fire out of the computer. Did that work? Did the gauge work? The
gauge didn't work. That's it like gigawatt gauge or megawatt gauge or something. I think it's
ridiculous. It's for like power plants. It's not for that computer. But yeah
that was a ton of fun and inspired me to do. Giga what? DIY gifts for Christmas.
Which have been a bit of an adventure. Jake's been there for a fair amount of that. Thank you
Jake's dad who's helped me with things. I'm not gonna say what things cuz it's
not Christmas yet. Yeah like two days. Boom Liam in chat. 1.21 gigawatts.
Yeah so those have been a little bit of a nightmare. I've lost a lot of sleep

year. There's probably the time that Linus's Twitter got hijacked. Oh gosh. That
was pretty bad. We were out doing this crazy. Oh come on. A little bit of an
exaggeration. That's that's why they like sarcastic tone. Yeah I got you. Like hackers.
We were out filming this crazy video. No not the pizza computer. This got
brought up last time too. I love the pizza computer. I love shooting the
pizza computer. I love shooting the pizza computer. I loved making the
pizza heater computer. I love the pizza heater computer itself even though it
doesn't exist anymore. He likes pizza. Just because you guys didn't like it
doesn't mean that I didn't like it. I might have disliked the amount of
dislikes that were on the video and all the negative comments. That might have
sucked but I love that computer and that was not the worst part of this year. That
was I'm changing my answer. My favorite part of this year was building the pizza
heater computer. Oh you can get wrecked. I'm kidding. Rod. Sorry. But yeah
probably dealing with that was pretty that was pretty terrible. Pretty terrible
indeed. Work was fairly straight up this year I think. Except this week. Well no
things were difficult. Yeah but. And stressful and strenuous. This week
especially. Everything mostly worked. Mm-hmm. The workshop series. There we go.
There you go. That's the worst thing that happened. How to. GPU. That entire. No that was fine. That was good.
The likes on that video have slowly increased over time. The entire workshop
series as a whole. So the idea of that concept was I wanted to show everyone in
real time with minimal editing showing everything on camera benchmarking things
so that they could so that could hopefully add to the legitimacy and make
it feel more real. Mm-hmm. What that turned into however was just kind of a
mess. People didn't really like it. People didn't like hearing that everything that
they do doesn't really matter and it's just it was kind of boring to watch. They
just weren't great. I think people were trying to like reinforce their
purchasing decisions. Like hundreds of dollars on fans and then we're like oh
this did literally nothing. But they make it quieter like there's there are
benefits. Anyways yeah that was probably the the worst thing that happened this
year was was my workshop series. Are you we should do a guide on overclocking
pizza. It's adding hot sauce. But like well but it's the distribution metrics
of the hot sauce. Yeah like you need and like certain hot sauces will give you
like better efficiency. So the amount of Scoville level. Well not necessarily. Is your gigahertz. No.
Okay no maybe. Yeah yeah. So what is like the anti gigahertz. Like I have a 4.5
gigahertz pizza. Giga Giga because I have like Giga Scovilles. Okay I need to go.
Yeah I'm gonna tap tap on out there buddy. So this is the best thing that's

of 2016. Yeah. I don't even know if that's actually true. Okay so what do you do
here? I'm in charge of inventory, acquisitions, and investigations. Also you have to wear the hat if you want to talk to me.
I have to wear the hat. Yes okay. Unless you're worried about lice in which case
you can avoid that rule. But I think it's fine. Okay. Yeah so sorry say that again.
Inventory, acquisitions, and investigations. And now there's a little
bit more. Yeah I know I'm also writing. Writing and doing like some
pre-production stuff. Like you worked on the monitor placement video. I did the
monitors. I did the DIY typewriter. I don't know if you want to give away that
other thing that you're working on but the tabletop thing you can probably talk
a little bit about. Yeah sure. We just started a video on technology and
tabletop gaming which I am super excited about. Yeah yeah so Tyler wrote and I
helped edit and Linus helped edit and Tyler kind of sculpted this video that
is about. So I said Minecraft t-shirt. It's not. Well it is it is a checkered
t-shirt. Yeah sort of it's almost gets there. But it's it's not just about
tabletop simulator. It's about how technology has helped push tabletop
gaming whether that's card gaming or role-playing or whatever basically
forward. 3d printers, roll 20, tabletop simulator, a whole bunch of different
stuff. It's actually really interesting. That's probably not gonna be coming out
for like a little bit unless you're in full-plane club but yeah stay tuned.
That'll be cool. What was your favorite thing that happened this year that had
to do with work? Oh we're doing like the least favorite. Favorite and least
favorite thing yeah. I think the least favorite thing that happened was when we
started the WAN show and it was in 320p and then my most favorite thing was when
we restarted the WAN show and it was in full 720p. Yeah yeah yeah yeah that's good that's pretty solid. That's a good answer. I don't have a long memory. You can remember the last hour. Those best and worst tend to change on a daily basis. That makes sense. That's solid.
Yeah I don't know. I don't have a ton else to say. Do you have any crazy plans for DIY stuff? Not that I'm allowed to discuss. Most crazy plans have

great. Was it the Wancho? I think possibly the first time I was ever on camera was
on the Wancho and my arm was in like a sling and I was like beat up. I just hung
out while Linus hosted everything which was pretty cool. Yeah I think I'll get
someone else. I wish like someone stayed here so that we could like relay people

TI and a premium Club GeForce Elite subscription which was kind of
interesting. You might even have something to say for this. Currently
we're talking about Club GeForce Elite subscriptions. Yeah. What up with that?
I don't even know. What do you think about that? It's a little different. Do you have any strong, intense
opinions on that at all? Is it the worst thing that has literally ever happened
to the universe? I mean yes. Just kidding. No it's not. No definitely not. But I mean like it
depends on what exactly it is and like the subscription. It's kind of like what?
Okay so with 1080 TI I don't think we have a ton of information. There's one
little kind of thing where there was targeted spot prizes to drive
incentment, all this other weird kind of stuff. There's something about possibly
a form of step up program. Owners of the 980 TI. Yeah. Yeah. Where they could get a
first spot in line to get 1080 TI pre-orders or something. I don't really
know what's going on with that. This is all very rumor mill right now so
personally I don't think it's a super big deal. Yeah it's from a LinkedIn job posting
which has since been taken down. And like does anyone even have a screenshot?
Because I haven't seen one. No screenshot. And then there's a link you go to it
it's been taken down so it's just like. Yeah. Yeah. Okay so I kind of wonder if
it's like a fake Nvidia posting it. But who knows. Yeah. Who knows. I mean like
1080 TI it's gonna come out. It's not surprising right? Yeah no it's not like
the craziest news we've ever heard so yeah. And then there's the club
GeForce elite kind of deal. This has been interesting. Says that there's possibly
beta access for Talos and Nvidia first-party content. There's like you get
some indie games and you get a subscription to their cloud gaming
service thing and you get some other stuff maybe ten dollars a month. To me it
feels a lot like paying those like console subscription things. I know
it's not the same thing before everyone freaks out. I get it. It doesn't like give
you access to play internet games. Yeah. But it just annual benefits include a
free indie game custom skin or in-game items for triple-a games every few
months. Yeah there's you you get free game codes in game currency early beta
access to certain games gaming accessories and tickets to gaming events
like Blizzcon or PAX. That's pretty crazy. That'd be cool. Actually yeah.
There's also users will be rewarded for submitting bug reports or contributing
useful feature requests. It's also interesting but oh that's the chair. I
thought you just ripped one. Like no. It's all good. Most active forum users will
also be given game codes and as will the users who rank the most negative or the
most positive in their sentiment tools. The negative part is kind of interesting.
Does Nvidia want trolls? But then this is all rumor mill stuff. So who knows. But

between 40 and 50 videos in like a week. I don't know why being on the sales side of things I'm
like oh yeah just make some videos and you guys will be fine. It'll be easy. Get there and I'm
like holy cow this is a real thing. This is this is nuts. This is insanity just running around. You
got the business team going to meetings with with all the different partners and brands and going
with you guys to check out really cool stuff and then like John's roaming the show floor to try to
get top fives of things and like I'm just kind of walking around just checking things out. So that
was a really cool experience. Also the Mexico trip I thought that was a lot of fun. I could see why
some people didn't have as much fun on a work-cation because they had a lot of stuff to do.

that was really cool too because I've never been to Mexico so that was pretty cool to see
and doing all the expeditions or the yeah expeditions that we're doing all the activities
right so you'll see a lot of those on channel super fun we got a lot of content over there
but doing those was pretty cool so we actually got to keep busy what just happened. We're having

months before I did three months maybe so we have 50% more people now pretty much when did when did

pretty much we've doubled in size in like a year and a half that's pretty crazy that is pretty
crazy yeah but it's cool getting to work with different people and everybody here has like
different personalities and stuff so it's really cool to see like a box or bucket of them or

no okay so the Nintendo switches CPU GPU clock speeds were revealed you can check that out on
Eurogamer I'm gonna post a link to that in the description here this like in my opinion is
probably the least important thing about the Nintendo switch that might sound weird that
could totally sound weird and I get that but at the same time it's not like Nintendo consoles
for a long time have exactly been on like the forefront of performance technology I am a self
proclaimed Nintendo fanboy and I'm excited for this thing regardless because I want to play the
games that are on it I'm interested in the games that are on it I'm I will go for amazing beautiful
detailed cinematic experiences on my PC I will go for playing Zelda because hell yeah on my console
that's how that's gonna work one interesting thing is that there's different performance
specs for it when it's docked versus undocked so it's memory bandwidth is 200 and sorry 25.6
gigabytes per second its VRAM is shared through the GPU and the CPU it has 256 CUDA cores at a
maximum of 1 gigahertz and I actually can't find in this specific picture but it has pretty
drastically different performance depending on whether it's plugged into a TV or it is taken
remotely with you if you remember you can take you can put the controllers on the side of the
switch and take it as if it is a mobile gaming device the mic is fine thank you yes oh god

talking about the Nintendo switch how are you oh you know how's today going today was it stressful

they'd be like well are you starting all these new series this is stupid I don't want a new
series every single day this is stupid why are you doing this it's like so we figure out what
works yeah that's how you figure it out you do it that's true so this was very much like the
year of the pilot and there were some concepts that I really liked it didn't work out like tech
showdown is one where it was like it was good first couple ones were fine and then just people
don't seem to care I know that's that's actually been really confusing for me because I feel like
like what I hear from the audience that is the most in tune with what people like seem to ask
for it's just not the right but then no one actually cares which is fine it's one of my
favorite things to do maybe if it was tech showdown gone sexual let's see that would make
you I think I think tech showdown as a name is pretty garbage I liked the original not saying
it name that is way too close to it maybe so the internal name was iron tech yeah iron tech
because I was supposed to be like Iron Chef but with tech the original concept for tech showdown
was that Linus and I would be standing there or whoever the competitors were would be standing
there and then everything that you had to build with is gonna be on a table under a cloth just
like Iron Chef and then whoever the host was when it was gonna whip the cloth off and all of their
stuff that they were able to use for the build was gonna be there and you have to like run up

in every night for the past week or so finishing it up he's really cool he's got a tree house that's
way nicer than mine so he clearly knows what he's doing and so we'll have we'll have more
b-roll abilities and we're also gonna build the mezzanine so we can get all these all this crap
off off the ground and put it up into the mezzanine and they'll have more room for more filming of
more stuff that'll be good yeah we added a lot of employees this year we grew we added 50% more
than we had before of employee are we are 150% of the size that we were in 2015 yeah and somehow
we're still just as busy yep the work never stops like maybe even busier potentially yeah maybe it's
borderline the thing is it's always like a hundred percent capacity so there's it's hard to like tell
if it's yeah exactly and we had we had gotten ahead on the on the videos for a while for about
a month or two we were really ahead on on writing and then and then it could all went to hell
because it's quarter four the quarter four is always just terrible it's it's it's a mess yeah
it's a mess and then it ends with CES which fortunately king of the mess well yes and no
because all the content is like right there okay just go out and you'll get something yeah of
course it's a lot of work but at least you're gonna have videos yes and also there's lots of

because I literally just don't like it I have found one alcoholic beverage that I can drink

is good I hate it really if I can taste the alcohol at all but that's absolutely Haley's

but I don't taste the sounds horrible it's still better than everything else anyways what is the

important and in some cases critical to people the current generation of iMac is the best desktop

people some folks in the media have raised the question about whether we're committed to desktops

great desktops in our roadmap nobody should worry about that say that that's a it's a little odd
